Off Season Workouts with D1 Training

Mav Family,

We do want to invite all lacrosse players to take part in off-season workouts if available.  In the past, Mtn. View Lacrosse has partnered with Off The Field and Rock and Armor for player conditioning which of course helps come try-out and season time but is as well just a great alternative to video games as the days get shorter.  This year, coach Hollowell introduced the Fall Ball players to D1 Training, who came by a recent practice and offered their services.  D1 Training is a fairly new program to the Boise area but are already working with many of the local collegiate athletes and nationally have been around for 15+ yrs.  They are also a much more economical way to go than in years past.

D1 Training has their facilities at 3750 E. Pewter Falls Street, Suite 120 Meridian, ID 83642, which is very close to Mtn. View HS.  They are offering 5 hour long sessions for $25, ($5 per session), which are done as a group.  This is open to all MVHS Lacrosse players whether playing Fall Ball or not… if a player plans on hitting the field in Spring you are more than welcome to join.  Sessions are currently Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, starting at 3:30pm.  We have close to 20 kids who are currently participating, and word is from their first full session this past Wednesday it’s pretty intense.  If interested, just send down your player with $25 to one of the next sessions and get him in.

St. Lukes FitOne Race Volunteers Needed

Mav Family,

We have partnered with St. Lukes to assist with the FitOne Race once again and have confirmed with them the need for 25 volunteers to help us meet that goal.  The timeframe for help is between 5:30am to 12pm on Sept. 28th and we are going to be course marshals again.  Basically, we’ll meet at a designated spot central to the course and then will be driven by our fundraiser leads (Kim Brown and Steve Goyen) to different spots around the course to assist the runners by pointing out their direction if needed.

We appreciate as much help as we can get in meeting our goal for Mtn. View Lacrosse does receive monetary compensation for our part…. helps keep total costs and registration costs down.  As well, forany player and or parent that volunteers, a $20 credit will be added to that players account which can be used for any future registration cost to the club.  For example, if a player and a parent/guardian sign up it would be $40 towards that player.

To volunteer, please go to http://stlukes.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/?start_over&id=38143 where you’ll see an option to enter a password.  Enter “MtnViewMens”, (w/o the quotes), and then just fill out the contact form fields below.  One field of the form does ask for the name of an entity if you are a part of a business competition…. we’re not a part of that and you can just put in NA or Mtn. View.  Once submitted you should receive an email confirmation for “1. Course Marshal #6: Sep 28th 5:30AM - 12:00PM”.  Please note that this has to be done for every volunteer.  We again appreciate any and all help with this.

On a side note, we do want to remind our players that Fall Ball registration will closed on Aug. 31st.  There is a very narrow window after that to where practices will begin, and we will not be able to take any registrations after that.  As well, due to our bylaws in following the IHSAA it is required to have a Physical or Interim Health Questionnaire submitted before a player can step on the practice field.  We also require an acknowledgement form for concussions and a player agreement be signed and submitted.  For our already or going to be registered 9th and 11th graders, (and those who have not played any sport at the high school level before), please give yourself enough time to have a physical completed…no physical dated before May 1, 2019 will be accepted.  Once your physical is in we will be able to use that for our spring season.  See https://mavslax.zenpig.net for the forms and more info.

Thank you,

MVHS Lacrosse
